What are you missing in strategy games like those of Paradox, Slitherine, and Iceberg that you’d like to be able to do? Do you have any heavily desired features for fantasy strategy? Feel free to post those kinds of comments here.
One thing most miss is the ability to play as any character. And religions should be more than just static things that give boosts. I like that your adding gods as characters that something I rarly see in games.
So in Axioms you can play as absolutely any character and even swap around characters if you wanted to for some reason. Not sure if you read the post about being an adventurer or mercenary captain.
I guess technically you can't play as the gods? I had to reserve my dream religion/planes/gods system for a potential sequel to dodge feature creep. Gods are more interactive than in Paradox but aside from Ascendants which are pretty similar to Pretenders in the Illwinter games you can't play as a primordial or even neogenic god.
Religions are absolutely unique in Axioms as far as being more than a static bonus, as are governments. Religions are like a secondary chain of authority beyond the direct leaders of populations. Although those characters can also hold religious roles. Having complex secular capabilities and transnational authority and fielding military power similar to the Catholic Church or the Caliphates in the real world was something I really wanted to provide.
