I really did the right thing in following up your project, I feel joyful about this.
The main reason I love reading books is exactly because of the characters and their personalities, as well as, one of the three main things that I am really interested in in real life is people.
I have never seen a game that intrinsically focuses on the personality of the characters or even the social.
I think most people want simplistic 4X style map painters for strategy and then they play social sims or visual novels for character. And many people I've engaged with will say that without the handcrafted dialogue and story narratives and without detailed character/setting images the social stuff won't work.
So it is sort of a risk to try and wedge social interaction into a map and menu game even if there is no inherent reason it can't work.
A lot of people don't really know what they want till they see it, they can't really construct a theoretical concept themselves. Of course my very tough job is to move from concept to concrete, and there aren't a ton of good models. Mostly adjacent genre stuff.
7-14 months to finish if, hopefully, nothing comes up that delays me like family health problems or money issues or w/e.
I had way more non-programming delays than expected in 2022 which was quite annoying. Got sick, family members died and we had to do funeral stuff, did some stuff for the US midterms, etc.
